Relatives shocked by dismissal of bail of corporate honchos

Tears welled up in the eyes of the relatives who came to know at around 1415 hours that Justice Ajit Bharioke has rejected the bail pleas of Unitech Group MD Sanjay Chandra, Swan Telecom promotor Vinod Goenka, Reliance ADAG MD Gautam Doshi, its President Surendra Pipara and Senior Vice President Hari Nair who are in Tihar jail since April 20.

All the accused and their relatives in the courtroom of Special CBI Judge O P Saini were shaken by the High Court decision and the women cried and consoled each other.

While they were upset, DMK MP Kanimozhi, who was also brought from Tihar jail to attend the proceedings, came forward and comforted them.

The 43-year-old daughter of Karunanidhi spoke to each of the relatives of the five corporate executives. Wearing red-and-white printed 'salwar suit', Kanimozhi chattted with key accused and former Telecom Minister A Raja and co-accused Sharad Kumar, MD of Kalaignar TV, during the court proceedings.
