Ten killed in Sindhagi accident

 Siddamma Ningappa Hadapada (35), Danamma Srishaila Sonnada (50), Gururaja Srishaila Sonnada (14), Shantavva Basappa Kumbara (45), Jagadevi Gurushantha Hadapada (40), Shankramma Mallikarjuna Hadapada (42), Guravva Suresh Akhandappagola (40), all from Sindhagi, Rukmabai Mallinatha Bhosagi (40) of Kannolli village, Sunil Shankar Dhanapal (26) of Yaragal B K village and the three-wheeler driver Mallanagowda Bheemanagowda Peerapura (45) of Gabasavalagi village were killed.

The seven women were on their way to a marriage ceremony to help as cooks at Gabasavalagi in the taluk.

Sunil had taken a lift midway to reach his village, said police. The speeding three-wheeler, which had overtaken two other vehicles, collided with the lorry which was on its way from Gulbarga to Sindhagi.

The three-wheeler was crushed under the lorry.

Ex gratia

MLA Ramesh Bhusanura and district Superintendent of Police Dr D C Rajappa visited the spot. The MLA said that a ex gratia of Rs 50,000 each had been released to the kin of the deceased from the chief minister’s relief fund.  A mass cremation of the bodies was later conducted at Sindhagi.
