Prize money for IVL hiked

The event, which starts on Sunday at the Sree Kanteerava stadium, will have an overall prize money of Rs 42.5 lakh and teams taking part in the event have also announced rewards if their respective squads wins the overall honour.

Chennai Spikers’ sponsors Hall Industries, had announced a reward of Rs 15 lakh if their team wins and Rs 7.5 lakh if they come second. On the same lines, Maratha Warriors’ owners had said they will reward their team with Rs 11 lakh if they claim the top prize.

Karnataka Bulls’ joint secretary K Nandakumar announced on Saturday that the State Volleyball Association would give Rs 16 lakh if their team wins the title. Rs 8 lakh will be on offer if they finish second while Rs 4 lakh will be the reward for a third-place finish.

Volleyball Federation of India’s secretary-general K Murugan said: “Doordarshan will telecast the event live and this will also act as the final selection camp for the Indian team.”
