The minister consoled Sudhindra’s parents Mohan Kumar and Jyothi and Vighnesh’s parents Srinath and Shobha by telling that the investigators were close to busting the case. The accused would be arrested in a week.

The state government has taken the case seriously. Teams of efficient police personnel are on job, he said. He said he would shortly hold a meeting of state and district level police officers. Those officers who have settled in the district for long would be transferred, he added. Taking note of the local legislator H P Manjunath expressing helplessness over the incident, as appeared in a section of the media, Vijayashankar said the former should have instead contacted the office of the chief minister or the home ministry over the issue.

To a question, the minister replied that crime had shown its ugly faces during the regime of the previous governments too.  He appealed to MP H Vishwanath to stop making baseless allegations, but help the police in tracing the culprits.

Media blamed

The parents, especially Ashok Kumar, paternal uncle of Sudhindra blamed the media for blowing up the issue out of proportion, the reason for the youths losing their lives. Similar was the opinion of the representatives of Sri Ramakrishna Ashram, Mysore.

The media completedly failed to maintain secrecy over the developments and the need of the hour is to prohibit publishing of such news reports until the case is solved.

Clarification

Ashok, paternal uncle of H M Sudhindra has clarified that the family has not purchased any land  in Bangalore as reported in Deccan Herald (June 15, 2011). He has further stated that the family is willing to provide the details of its assets.
