<p>The liquor was seized from godowns stored illegally for distribution during the elections in various parts of the taluk.<br /><br />3,743 litres<br /><br />The excise officials said a total of 3,743 litres of spurious liquor, 699 litres of beer and 65 litres of spirit were destroyed as the department was not supposed to sell or store them. <br /><br />However, they were allowed to sell the empty bottles and remit the the proceeds from the sale to the Government, Sub-Inspector (Excise) A C Kanade told Deccan Herald.<br /><br />‘After long time’<br /><br />“We should have destroyed the liquor a few days ago, but couldn’t do so for some reasons. We are destroying the seized liquor after a long time,” said Excise Official sub-division officer K Rajashekharayya. <br /><br />It took more than one hour to empty all the bottles. Tahsildar Poornima and other officials were present.</p>
