Mudgal, speaking at a seminar organised by Clean Sports India on its first anniversary, said the two clauses would face serious opposition even as the sports ministry goes ahead with plans to table it in the monsoon session of the parliament.

The sports bill, understandably, dominated the discussions even as CSI marked its first anniversary with an awareness run in the city and announced plans to take forward its objective of ensuring accountability and transparency in the functioning of national sports bodies.

“We have made a mark in the first year and we have plans to spread the message to more regions in the coming year,” said BVP Rao, Convenor of CSI. The gathering of sportspersons at the Infosys campus included Ashwini Nachappa, who is the vice-president of CSI, Reeth Abraham (joint convenor CSI), cue sports ace Chitra Magimairaj and basketballer BS Gautham among others.

The seminar was addressed by Rao, Amar Kumar Pandey former Commissioner, Department of Youth Services and Sports, and Mohandas Pai, former Infosys Board member. Pandey spoke about the challenges in front of CSI while Pai enlightened the gathering on leadership and what it takes to be an agent of change in the society.

The seminar was followed by a guided tour of the campus that has excellent sporting facilities including an eight-lane synthetic track, badminton hall, squash courts and gymnasium.
