“I’m not against friendship, but I’m against celebrating it on a particular day. I believe that friendship should be there everyday, every time,” he told reporters here on Saturday, during his ‘official entry’ to the district. The administration had banned his entry to the district on March 16 ‘for his role in pub attack and his justifications in media in the following days’. However, Muthalik had been successful in bringing a High Court stay against the ban recently.

“By banning my entry to the district, the government has violated my constitutional rights,” he said. He said there is no point in banning his entry to the district giving the reason that he makes provocative speeches. “I have made more than 200 speeches in Dakshina Kannada in between 2002 and 2004, and not a single speech provocated people to indulge in communal violence,” he said. He termed his entry to the district ‘historical’.
