However, a University official said the institution will first wait for the Delhi police to uncover all the facts. "We are making no interference in the police's job, we want the police to nab all the culprits in this racket. If these people are found responsible, we will initiate proper action against them," the official said, preferring anonymity.

The official was speaking in response to a question on the arrest of two employees of the Delhi University's SC/ST cell for their alleged links with the racket involved in helping students get admission in colleges on the basis of fake caste certificates.

"If needed we will set up a committee of our own to look into the matter. The issue will be taken care of and no guilty person will be spared," the official said. The University is, however, yet to receive a formal communication from the police about their investigation into the issue.

"We have not received any report from the police as yet, but the Crime Branch is also in the middle of the investigation, and they would be able to provide inputs to us only after they are through with it," he said.

When asked if the University needs to be more vigilant to prevent such incidents, an official from the Proctor's office said the varsity administration was vigilant enough but given the vast expanse of the University it sometimes gets difficult to monitor everything.

"Our Proctorial teams keep touring colleges during admission times to check if everything is going on track, but there are over 60 colleges and the University cannot be present everywhere all the time," the official said.
