If you are under the impression that naxalites in Bihar, who owe their allegiance to the banned outfit – CPI (Maoists) - live in penury, then think again. For, the police in the State have prepared a list of top-ranking leaders of the ultra-Left group who have raked in substantial moolah, besides accumulating huge property in Delhi and Kolkata.
Expectedly, the naxal outfit is livid over the slanderous charge and has threatened to punish those officials who are spreading such canards about them. In its mouthpiece Lal Chingari, the banned organization has described the act of the police as a well-thought out conspiracy to defame their leaders. Warning the cops involved in this ‘list-preparation work’ to desist from this exercise, the mouthpiece has asked the policemen to be prepared to face the music.
According to the magazine, a top-ranking leader Janardanji was picked by the Special Task Force (STF) from Dhanbad last year. Earlier, his son Sudhirji too was taken into custody and subjected to severe physical harassment. The same day five of their supporters were also held from Gaya.
The Maoists held the IG (Operations) SK Bharadwaj responsible for spreading such misleading information against leaders like Janardanji. The IG, according to the magazine, had claimed that Janardanji not only amassed huge property in Delhi and Kolkata but had stashed away crores of rupees in non-banking financial companies.
“All these allegations made by the police are false. The top cops know that an underground leader cannot file a defamation suit against them, hence they are levelling unsubstantiated and baseless charges. But then, these officers will not be spared. We will punish them in our Jan Adalat at an appropriate time,” said a top-rung leader of the outfit, who did not wish to be identified.
The magazine has slammed the police for arresting one of its front-ranking leaders Pramod Mishra, who has been working for the banned organization for the last three decades. Mishra was secretary of the North regional bureau when he was apprehended. A bandh call was also given to protest the arrest of Mishra and Janardanji and it was decided to teach the police a lesson. Apparently, they have duped the cadres who extorted money  for them,” said a senior officer, involved in this exercise.
