A panchayat was convened on Sunday to discuss the matter and determine the punishment for the “offence.” <br /><br /> “Thrashing was meant to serve as a deterrent and the service at the temple was to make sure that he atones for whatever he has done,” the panchayat members claimed. The families of the two were asked to keep an eye on them. <br /><br />The families were also warned that they will be banished from the community if they fail to keep their “children under control,” sources said. Caste panchayats have already declared their decision not to allow love marriages, especially from the same “gotra.” <br /></p>
