Pune death sparks off rush at RGICD

RGICD Director Dr Shashidhar Buggi said, “People have been scared following the death of a schoolgirl in Pune. Many people came here for screening, even though they did not show any symptoms of the flu.”

At least 38 throat swabs of suspected cases were collected and sent to NIV, Pune; three suspected cases were admitted at RGICD.

A 29-year-old man who arrived from the United States on July 17 developed symptoms, and tested positive on Wednesday. As the man had stayed at home, his family members too are being administered the antiviral drug (Tamiflu).

RMO of Lakeside Hospital Dr Raviraj said that the Hospital received more than 40 OPD patients for screening.
