Sumanahalli Society approaches Governor

"The Governor assured us that he would strongly take up this case with the Government," said Sumanahalli's director Father George. Speaking from the legal point of view, Judge Saldhana said that if the lease of land is not positively terminated, it is deemed renewed. "Also constitutionally, the land is earmarked for leprosy and physically disabled persons. So, it cannot be taken back," said Father George.

Presently, there are 700 people who use the Sumanahalli campus. Despite several requests to renew the lease in 2007, the government did not respond to them.
