New Year celebrations turned fatal for two Bangalore youths, who accidentally fell and drowned in the famous Gaganachukki and Bharachukki twin falls at Shivanasamudra on Saturday.
Kollegal rural police have identified the dead as Manoj, 27, an employee of GE and Abdul Ahmed, 16, a supplier in a hotel in Bangalore.
Inspector Puttaswamy said that Manoj had arrived at Bharachukki falls on the eve of New year. However, he slipped and fell into the water and drowned.
In a similar accident Abdul Ahmed was at Gaganachukki falls. He accidentally fell into the water and drowned, he added. The bodies were fished out with the help of trained swimmers.
