Addressing the students after inaugurating St Mary’s Cricket Academy here at Shirva in a programme organised by St Mary’s Old Students’ Association on Tuesday he said parents should not put pressurise their children to go against their area of interest. Parents should provide facilities and encourage the children.

They should support the children to opt for the area in which they are strong enough. Communication is an important key to climb the ladder of success, he added.

Determination, dedication and discipline are the key to success. Besides it helps to build the character. Wrong paths should not be chosen by the students as the short cut to the success, he said and informed Karnataka State Cricket Academy conducts district level cricket tournaments in search of cricket talents. The selected players are sent to Bangalore for fine tuning, he added.

Stating that the grand welcome accorded to him on his arrival to Shirva brought back the memories of reception given to 1983 World Cup Winners.  “I got the same experience as a player when we won the world cup in 1983. I am overwhelmed by the gesture. The motorcade organised today to welcome me was similar to that of reception offered to us in 1983,” he said.
