Blacklist contractors for tardy work: Mayor

While inspecting Shivajinagar and neighbouring areas, Sharadamma directed the Palike engineers to scrap the contracts and to blacklist contractors who had delayed work. “Float fresh tenders so that new contractors can execute the work in a speedy manner,” she directed.

Local MLA Roshan Baig, Deputy Mayor S Harish, local corporators and the Engineer-in-chief B T Ramesh accompanied Sharadamma. Baig complained about the shoddy construction of the drain, which otherwise could prevent flooding. During her visit to Kamaraj Road and Dickenson Road, Sharadamma found that leakage of water had damaged the roads badly.

She directed the BWSSB engineers to replace the damaged pipelines by Saturday and to stop the water leakage.

While inspecting the road laying work at Jasma Devi Bhavan, she directed the Palike engineers to finish the work by September 17. The work has been going on for the past three years with little progress. Palike is under pressure to finish the work by Saturday, as Chief Minister Sadananda Gowda is scheduled to visit the area to inaugurate the renovated Jasma Devi Bhavan.
