One need not go searching for cops in Nanthoor henceforth. The members of the public can easily find them in the ‘Police assistance booth’ which was inaugurated by Corporator Roopa D Bangera on Wednesday.

Speaking on the occasion, Mangalore Police Commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh said that 10 such outposts will come up in the City Police Commissionerate limits soon.

The police assistance booths will benefit the cops as they will act as a temporary shelter during rains and on the other hand, as the booths are heat resistant, it will help them beat the extreme heat.

The outposts are equipped with table, chair, electricity, fans, and also water facility. The unique feature of the booth is that they are not rooted to the ground and can be easily shifted to different places whenever a need arises, with the help of cranes.

Admitting that the department cannot afford to recruit more police officers for the outpost, he said that officers from various police stations will be deployed.

The public need not go all the way to the police station to ask for information or to lodge complaints; they can do so at the outpost.

He said that the CC camera has also been installed at Nanthoor. Corporator Ashok Kumar, DCPs Muthuraya and Dharmaiah, ACP Ravindra Gadadi, T R Jagannath, Traffic ACP Subrahmanya and others were present.
