Flower show: 25k roses to recreate statue circle

This was informed to the media here on Sunday by ZP CEO G Satyavathi who is also the chairman of District Horticulture Association.

Apart from roses, orchids and foreign flowers will also be used for the circle. Another attraction is sand embossing, a first of its kind, with city-based artiste Gowri recreating Goddess Chamundeshwari. The regular feature of the show — 35,000 to 40,000 pots sporting varieties of plants, leaves, flowers and vegetables — will be on display with horticulture departments from K R Sagar and Ooty participating. Competitions like vegetable carving, flower rangoli, ikebana and gardening — both government and private — have been organised. Indo-American Institute, private nurseries, Agriculture Science Centre, Suttur, and Horticulture College are the first timers in the show.

Horticulture and sugar minister S A Raveendranath will inaugurate the show on September 30 at 3.30 pm.

The entry fee is Rs 10. Deputy special officer and deputy director of horticulture Nagaraj, and senior assistant director of horticulture H C Shashikala and vice-president D Prabhamandal were present.
