Nervous about my first solo film: Prateik

Last Updated 14 October 2011, 07:44 IST

Prateik, who won critical acclaim for his debut performance in 'Jane Tu...Ya Jane Na', continued doing supporting roles in films like 'Dhobi Ghat', 'Dum Maro Dum' and 'Aarakshan'. This is his first break as a lead actor.

"I am completely shouldering the responsibility... I do feel the pressure. But it is fun and exciting pressure and it might turn other way round if the film does not do well," Prateik told PTI in an interview.

"I feel there is excitement and nervousness both as this is my first solo lead. But I do not want to step back. I want to keep doing good work," he said.

Prateik is also excited about his first attempt in comedy and took the task pretty seriously.
"Comedy is very difficult. But I loved and enjoyed it. I am doing comedy for the first time and the promos are looking good and people have liked it," he said.

Bhansali, who in the past launched Ranbir Kapoor and Sonam Kapoor in 'Saawariya', also had words of praise for Prateik.

"Pinto had to have a new identity a new image. Prateik just surrenders himself to the camera. There are so many brilliant moments that he has delivered and he is not even aware about it. Despite doing small roles a lot of people like him... he connects with the new audience. I am happy that we cast him and he has given the best," Bhansali said.
"We did workshops with the actors. I used call him up for giving a good performance saying the scene or the shot turned out well," he said.
