Toppers in Kannada to be honoured on Rajyotsava

This was decided at the preliminary meeting chaired by additional deputy commissioner Naga Nayak on Saturday.

The only change this year will be that of venue from Town Hall grounds to Kote Anjaneya Swamy temple premises, in Mysore palace north gate. Various development works are undertaken in Town Hall under Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JnNURM) works.

Medical education and district in-charge minister S A Ramdas will pay obeisance to the idol of Goddess Bhunvaneshwari on the day kick-starting the procession connected with the celebrations. Cultural troupes and tableaux will form the procession that will be taken out in various thoroughfares of the city. The officer also instructed the film exhibitors to screen only Kannada movies for a period of one week. While cultural programmes have been organised at Kalamandira in the evening.

He said no officers and staffers of the district should stay away from the celebrations and should compulsorily sign in the register on the day. Absentees will be strictly dealt and disciplinary action will be recommended, he added.

DCP (law and order) Basavaraj Malagathi, Kannada and Culture department assistant director K  Annegowda, l and others were present.
