Campaign against waste of food in Kushalnagar

It was inaugurated by writer Bharadwaj Kanive who said that large quantity of food is wasted in hotels and during wedding and other programmes. “If this food is saved, it can pacify the hunger of many people who cannot afford to earn the square meal,” he said.

He opined that every person should make it a point not to waste even a grain of rice. If every person sees to it that he or she does not throw or waste food that is the real respect they will be paying for the hardwork of the farmers.

Abhiyan Convener N K Mohan Kumar said that considering the changes and fluctuations in agriculture field, there are possibilities of India facing food scarcity in a decade or so.
“Everyday tonnes of food go to the dustbin. Our farmers work too hard to produce these foodgrains and hence it should be respected. Excess food must be given to hungry people,” he said.

Minister R Ashok, MLC S G Medappa met the Abhiyan team and appreciated the initiative.
Abhiyan Director Rasheed, Anand, K R Ravikumar, Venkatanagesh, T S Vidyadhar, P R Manjunath, B M Ravichandra and others were present.
