Vishwa Konkani Sahitya Puraskar presentation today

Speaking to media persons here on Wednesday, Konkani Language and Cultural Foundation Secretary Pradeep Pai said that Writer Damodar Mauzo will be honoured with ‘Vimala V Pai Vishwa Konkani Sahitya Puraskar- 2011’ for his Konkani novel ‘Tsunami Simon’. Kuvempu Bhasha Bharathi Pradhikara Chairman Dr Pradhan Gurudutt will present the award. World Konkani Centre President Basti Vaaman Shenoy will preside over the function.

Prior to award presentation ceremony, a round table dialogue on Konkani literature- ‘Open mind- Vibrant future’ has been organised at 10 am. Eminent Konkani writer of Goa Uday L Bhembre will be the chairman of the function. Dignitaries like Jayanth Kaikini, Sandhya S Pai will participate in the event, he informed.

Konkani Language and Cultural Foundation President Basti Vaman Shenoy and Secretary Venkatesh Baliga were present.

Hostel to open tomorrow

Pai also informed that Shri T V Raman Pai and Smt T Vimala V Pai Hostel at World Konkani Centre campus would be opened on November 11 at 11.11 am.

MP Oscar Fernandes will inaugurate the function while  T Vimala V Pai and T V Mohandas Pai will be the guests of honour.

Dakshina Kannada District-in-Charge Minister J Krishna Palemar will be the chief guest. Konkani Language and Cultural Foundation Chairman Dr P Dayananda Pai will preside over the function.  Karnataka Assembly Deputy Speaker Yogish Bhat and Konkani Language and Cultural Foundation Chairman Emeritus R V Deshapande will participate as guests.

As a part of function, a troupe from Goa will present a children theatre ‘Patholi Rookh’ while P T Upendra Bhat will present Konkani light music, Pradeep Pai informed.
