KPCC chief for CBI probe into Palike scam

Last Updated 12 November 2011, 17:35 IST

Addressing reporters on Saturday, Parameshwara demanded that a CBI probe be ordered into all the financial dealings that took place in the last three years in the BBMP.

“Largescale irregularities have taken place in all the work carried out in the BBMP, which need to be investigated thoroughly. The commissioner has ordered for a probe into the irregularities in three Assembly constituencies, whereas investigation must be carried out in all the 28 constituencies of Bangalore,” said Parameshwara.

“For one work, many duplicate bills were produced and the amount claimed was given to the contractors. These are very serious allegations, which warrant a high-level probe,” said the Congress leader. He said CBI had more expertise in probing such cases than the Lokayukta.

The State Congress president warned that the party would launch a severe protest if the government failed to order a CBI probe into the matter. He also asked the government not to transfer Palike Commissioner Siddaiah, who unearthed the scam.

During the press conference, former mayors M Ramachandrappa, G Huchchappa, K H N Simha, P R Ramesh, Leader of the Opposition in the Palike, Udayashankar, and other Congress corporators were present.
