Mayawati’s remark comes in the wake of Rahul’s recent statement at Jaunpur stating he was angry when he saw the plight of the people who do not have enough supply of fertilizers and electricity besides being victims of irregularities in the payment under the MNREGS.

“The prince of the Congress should focus on taming inflation rather than resorting to drama aimed at vote bank politics... why is he not angry over petrol prices?” Mayawati said after inaugurating Dr Shankuntala Devi Mishra University for Disabled.

She also lambasted Rahul for showing his concern over atrocities on the dalits in the Congress ruled state of Haryana and people from UP in Maharashtra.

The university has been named after the mother of BSP general secretary S C Mishra. Mayawati said that the varsity symbolised dalit-upper caste unity as she.

She, however, dedicated the varsity to her grand father Mangal Sen, whom she described as a progressive person, who ensured that his children got education even though he had lost his vision.

The chief minister also slammed the UPA for “step-motherly treatment” to UP. “UP has not been getting help of the Centre...it is not releasing funds for the development of the state,” she alleged.

The BSP supremo also announced sops worth several hundred crores which included a power project, water treatment plants, construction of highways and other developmental schemes.
