At ‘Diksoochi-2011’, a programme organised jointly by Rotary Mysore Midtown and National Institute of Engineering, Srinivasan guided students of tenth and I PUC about the important aspects necessary to become successful in life.

Addressing the students, Srinivasan cited the example of Apple founder Steve Jobs. He said, “Steve Jobs is considered as a visionary in the field of computing. He not only revolutionised the computing world but also music world and silicon support industry.”

It was possible only because Jobs had the courage to dream beyond the ordinary, Srinivasan added.

While dreaming big is the first step, ‘doing’ is equally important. He mentioned that it’s not enough if you dream. Enormous execution skills are also important for completing what you set out to do.

“Walk the talk and don’t just talk,” he advised the young crowd gathered at the NIE Sports Complex.

Citing the example of Sachin Tendulkar, he asked students to chose a career based on their interests. Had Sachin continued to decided to sit in class and fail in studies, he probably wouldn’t have been one of the greatest cricketers of all time. He set out and decided that he would play cricket.

Sachin Tendulkar used to wake up at 4.30 am every morning for several years to make a mark in his field. He concentrated on what he liked and what he wanted to do. It takes a lot of discipline to excel, he added.

“You don’t have to live the dream of somebody else. Whether it be your parents or teachers,” he reminded them. Srinivasan asked students to dare to think beyond the ordinary.

Unless you have the courage, you can’t don’t do things that others can even think of doing. Have confidence in your abilities and you will succeed, he said.
