In keeping with the tradition, GKVK has organised the Krishi Mela on its sprawling campus. People from different parts of the State are visiting the agriculture fair that has earned fame for the variety it offers to the farmers.
Equipment for agriculture and related business, seeds, manures, fertilisers, pesticides and agriculture products are on display and sale. The traders who have put up their stalls at the fair are buoyant at the huge response to their products.
Mohan of Kirloskar Fertiliser said he was swamped with enquiries related to fertilisers. The firm supplies fertilisers through agriculture societies, instead of individuals.
District and taluk-level farmer awards were given away. The district-level awards were given to Kiran Prabhakar, H H Nirmala, both from Shimoga and D Shankaraiah and Shankuntala, both from Ramanagar. Taluk-level awards were given to 36 farmers.
