India’s Rishika Sunkara shocked fourth seeded Celine Cattaneo of France 7-5, 6-4 to enter the quarterfinals of the LIC-ITF Women’s Tennis Championships here on Wednesday.
In another upset, Russian Ksenia Kirillova beat eighth seed Melis Sezer of Turkey 6-3, 6-4. Sachie Ishizu of Japan, Nicha Lertipitaksinchai and Peangtarn Plipuech, both of Thailand, Anja Prislan of Slovakia, Tamara Curovico of Serbia and China’s Jia-Jing Lu were the other players to make it to the quarters.
