An incident of a resident assaulting an elected representative occurred during Gunavanthe ward meet in Haranduru Gram Panchayat limit on Friday.

It is said that a local resident named Sujan attacked GP Vice-President M C Ashok who had come to take part in the meet. When Sujan pounced on the elected representatives, Ashok’s followed caught hold of Sujan and assaulted him. However cases have been booked against both Ashok and Sujan at Koppa Police Station.

GP President Lissey said that action should be taken against the local resident who attacked an elected representative without reason. “It seem as though the accused wanted to create confusion. He had insulted the dignity of the elected representative and has also obstructed the meeting proceeding,” the GP President said in a release.
