About the College

The Devaraj Urs Higher Education and Research Society started the College in 1986. The then Prime Minister V P Singh had inaugurated the new building of the College in 1990. The R L Jalappa Hospital and Research Centre was opened in 1996.

“The College and Hospital have provided medical service to the residents of and near Kolar,” added the principal.

Every year, 150 medical degree and 81 post-graduate degree holders are given admission into the College. The post-graduate section was inaugurated in 2000 by the then Chief Minister S M Krishna. The new administration section was inaugurated in 2004, by then Union Minister Anbumani Das, said the principal.
‘Matter of pride’

“In the first year itself a student of the College ranked first in the Bangalore University exams, and later 29 students won gold medals in the exams conducted by the Rajiv Gandhi University for Health Science. All these achievements are a matter of pride for our College. In 2006, we were accredited by NAAC and in 2007, the College became autonomous.”

The College has had research deals with several other higher education and research organisations.

“Both national and international journals have published as many as 231 research essays from the College,” said Sanikoppa.
