Milkman rapes domestic help

Jeevan Bhima Nagar police arrested a milk vendor on the charge of raping a 23-year-old domestic help on Friday.

The victim, a native of Vemagal in Kolar district, worked in the house of an engineer couple at Geethanjali Layout. Her husband lives at Vemagal. According to police, the maid used to go to Anand’s milk booth daily to fetch milk for her employers. The two became friends and spoke on mobile phones often. However, Anand allegedly presumed she was in love with him, police said.

On Friday afternoon, Anand noticed the techie couple going out. He went to their house and knocked on the door. When the maid opened the door, he claimed she had received a card and he had brought it for her.

She believed him and allowed him inside the house. Anand grabbed the opportunity and allegedly raped her, police said.

When her employers returned, they lodged a police complaint against Arun. Based on their inputs, police arrested him immediately. Arun, 23, a resident of Geethanjali Layout, is a native of Holenarsipur in Hassan district.

Cab driver robbed

A four-member gang allegedly attacked the car driver of a private firm, robbed him of valuables and fled with the vehicle in the Kengeri police limits on Thursday night. The incident occurred when Raghu Kumar, a resident of Bhuwaneshwarinagar, was returning home after dropping employees in his cab.

According to police, the suspects, who were waiting at Nayandalli junction, requested Kumar for a drop. Once inside the car, two of them asked Kumar to stop the vehicle in the Jnanabharathi area as they wanted to answer the call of nature. Soon after they got off the car, their accomplices threw chilli powder into Kumar’s eyes, snatched his cellphone and Rs 1,000 in cash. They pushed him out of the car and all the four fled in the cab, police said.

House looted

A seven-member gang of armed robbers struck at a house in Rajarajeshwarinagar, tied the residents with ropes and took away valuables on Thursday night.

Owner of the house Suresh said the thugs barged into the house at around 9 pm brandishing lethal weapons. They turned up the volume of the television, tied Suresh and his relatives with ropes, and made off with jewellery and cash, all valued at Rs 85,000.

Pedestrian killed

A pedestrian was killed on the spot when a two-wheeler knocked him down at MES Outer Ring Road in Peenya on Thursday night. Police gave the name of the dead as H Kumar, 40, a resident of Laggere.|

Kumar was returning home around 8 pm when the two-wheeler rider knocked him down from behind while he was walking along the road. Kumar sustained severe head injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital where doctors declared him brought dead. The two-wheeler rider is also being treated for injuries at a hospital.

BSNL employee ends life

A BSNL employee committed suicide by hanging himself in his room near Vidyapeeth Circle in BSK 3rd Stage on Thursday night. Ramachandrappa, 56, was working as an operator at a branch office in CK Achukattu area.

According to police, Ramachandrappa, following differences of opinion with his family, lived alone at Omshakthi temple near Vidyapeeth Circle. His wife and children live in Thyagarajnagar.
