Israeli jets raid Gaza

Israeli fighter jets Saturday night raided four targets in the Gaza Strip, wounding at least two people, medics and witnesses said.

Israeli F16 warplanes hovered over the coastal enclave, ruled by the Islamic Hamas movement, and carried out sudden airstrikes on four separate targets, witnesses said.

Three airstrikes targeted unpopulated areas in eastern Gaza city and the southern towns of Khan Younis and Rafah, Xinhua reported quoting witnesses.

A fourth airstrike targeted a group of militants in the southeast of Gaza city, where paramedics said at least two Palestinians were injured and have been taken to Shiffa Hospital in the city.

Security officials in Gaza said the airstrikes were a retaliation for an earlier rocket attacks launched from the Gaza Strip on southern Israel.

Israeli radio reports said two homemade rockets landed in empty areas, causing no damage or injuries. No one claimed responsibility for the rocket attacks.
