Gauribidanur travellers' bungalow surroundings turn into living hell

Last Updated 16 February 2012, 18:27 IST

The area around the travellers’ bungalow in the taluk has turned into a breeding place for insects, with its surroundings filled with weeds and waste strewn all over the place.

It has been alleged that the officers have turned a blind eye to the area and have taken no steps to take a hygiene drive in the area.

Health hazards

The residents near the travellers’ bungalow complained about the problems they faced. “The place has become a home for mosquitoes and the growth of weeds has reached no bounds.”

They stressed that a hygiene drive should be taken out in the area at the earliest.

Legislators and Ministers visit the traveller bungalow on a regular basis. Hence it is the duty of the authorities concerned to maintain the cleanliness in the area, the residents lamented.
