A youth was killed in a clash between groups belonging to two villages over taking out a procession on Shivaratri near Basaveshwara temple at Ganamguru village Monday night.
Prasanna, 28, was killed in the clash between two groups from Ganamguru and Gowdahalli villages in the taluk.
Ramakrishna of Ganamguru, Deve Gowda of Gowdahalli, Ballari, Jayaram and Mallesh were injured in the incident.
The police have arrested more than 15 villagers.
Platoons of DAR and KSRP were deployed in the villages to prevent any untoward incident.
