After the arrest of Kamran - the man rounded up from Delhi with ISI links  and who stayed in Kolkata for nearly 20 years - the city has come under the National Intelligence Agency (NIA) scanner.

Special instructions have been issued by the NIA to the Special Task Force (STF), Kolkata, in the wake of the incident. “One Naved Khan was picked up by us from in front of Indian Museum but he was released after interrogation,” Deputy Commissioner of Police (STF), Bastav Baidya told Deccan Herald. “We have to work under their (NIA) instructions. We have followed whatever instruction they have given us,” he added.

However, sources in STF said that Khan, uncle of Kamran and originally a resident of Karachi, came to Kolkata in 1999 and stayed on here thereafter. Initially, he worked in some local shops in Khidderpore and Esplanade area but afterwards he started his own business in front of Indian Museu.

“He is married to a lady who is a resident of Peshwar, Pakistan, and his father-in-law’s name is Akram Khan,” the sources added. “It is not only he but there are also some other people who are under the scanner of the NIA and we are looking out for them,” the source said.

According to the Delhi Police Kamran Akbar alias Attar alias Asif Hossain used to stay with his uncle Mohammad Salim at Amartalla Lane in Kolkata. He was associated with another person- Asraf Khan -  an associated of Selim. “We are looking for the duo but they are missing from the day of his arrest,” the source said.

As per the Kolkata police top officer, though seems peaceful, Kolkata is used by the terrorist as a safe hideout.
