KPCC President G Parameshwar said that the Congress will cash in on the failures of State Government to gain victory in the forthcoming Udupi-Chikmagalur Lok Sabha polls.

Speaking at huge rally of party workers here on Mondayhe said this bypoll has brought to the many issues for the fore that are affecting the people. The electorate has got an opportunity to teach a lesson to the BJP.

The seat, which was vacant owing to Sadananda Gowda becoming Chief Minister has thrown a challenge before the Congress workers to prove the party’s commitment to the people.

“We will highlight UPA government’s people-friendly and development oriented programmes that have taken the country towards progress and the party would highlight the failures of the state government in implementing various development schemes. We will also talk about failures of the State Government to make use of the development projects initiated by the Centre,” he added.

As many as 123 out of 176 taluks in the State have been declared as drought hit. There is acute shortage of drinking water in 80 cities across the State. Sadly all these grave issues have not been taken seriously by the State government.

They are rather busy fighting with their internal differences and have forgotten the pathetic conditions of poor people in the State, he said and added that the State had  never had such a worst governance so far.

Union Corporate Affairs Minister Veerappa Moily said that the Congress has taken Udupi-Chikmagalur Lok Sabha poll as a challenge.

“The party’s prestige is at stake and each one of us will work to bring victory to the Party,” he said.

He ridiculed CM Sadananda Gowda of being a non player of the cricket team which has lost all its eleven members owing to scams. State government is neglecting the issues concerning health and education.

Congress leader Motamma coming down heavily on BJP candidate Sunil Kumar said that he should come out with the statement over the issue of his connection in the case of MLA Raghupathy Bhat’s wife Padmapriya’s mysterious death.

She ridiculed that State government is synonymous with corruption and sex scandals. In the name of so called “Dharma”, these people support western culture like rave party, she alleged.
