Infrastructure Technology Outsourcing (ITO) services is the next level of outsourcing and will drive India’s growth in this sector, believes Hewlett-Packard (HP) Enterprise Business.

HP is of the opinion that ITO, which comprises data centre services, work place services, global information security services and others, will be the next level of outsourcing from India.

HP ITO Global Delivery India Vice-President Prakash M S said, “We have been constantly growing since we began application-based services, and then came the BPO services;  and now we feel that ITO will be the next big thing in this sphere.”

He said growth in ITO is being seen from the beginning of this millennium as more customers are understanding the requirements of infrastructure services like data cente management. According to estimates, the ITO industry has grown almost five times from 20,000 people in 2007 to 100,000 in 2012. So from the perspective of employed workforce, ITO has got a major boost. “A company can never stop receiving mails or it can never say no to mobile services. That is where ITO fits in to provide uninhibited access to all such services,” said Vice-President ITO Delivery Operations, Ludger Rohlmann.

HP combines the advantages of off-shoring and onshore services into, what they call, Best Shore. As one of the six global delivery centres, the Best Shore ITO in India takes care of clients all over the world. Employees in the India provide technical expertise to clients all over the world and this is how the centre has contributed significantly to the company’s growth.
