BJP epitomises commitment: CM

Last Updated 29 February 2012, 17:44 IST

Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda said BJP is the party that epitomises the commitment towards development, besides proving incredible by making the State more developed in the short period of its rule.

Speaking at the party workers rally here on Wednesday, he said BJP is a cadre based party unlike Congress and JD(S) in which leaders take the center stage.

“BJP is into development oriented politics. Karnataka stands second next only to Gujarat in the entire country in terms of implementing the 20-point development programmes”.

He alleged that both the Congress and the JD (S) have utterly failed to execute their responsibilities as the ruling power during their respective tenures. The development works of BJP during three and half years stands far superior when compared to the development that took place during 60 years of Congress rule in the State, he added.

The chief minister ridiculed that the Congress has no genuine rights to seek votes as it always compromised with the concern of offering livelihood security to the poor people and farmers. He said that the BJP during its rule has initiated many development programmes, the benefits of which are taken advantage by maximum number of people.

The CM assured that the government will take stringent action against land grabbers in the coming days and also will see into the early disposal of pending and fresh applications in the government offices, he added. State BJP President Eshwarappa too re-iterated and said that the BJP is not leader-centered party.

“There is no specific mass leader in the party. Unlike Congress, we take collective decisions and follow the decisions collectively. Even here, we will face elections collectively”. The party will bank upon the development programmes initiated by Yeddyurappa and CM Sadananda Gowda to gain victory. Gowda has introduced the programme to give away the title deeds to the people residing in slums.

He alleged that the poisonous seeds of caste politics were sown by the Congress since its rule from the beginning. “BJP is not communal. Congressmen are opportunists who pretend to be concerned about Dalits and backwards communities”. He said there are differences within BJP. However, that has not hindered the development process.

MP Ananth Kumar said the Congress rule in the country has created a sort of drought situation. He ridiculed Congress and said that it is a broken house and JD (S) has no identity. In this backdrop, it is only BJP that can offer sustainable politics besides taking country towards progress. The BJP has proved success in the recently held assembly elections in five states. “We will work to see that late leader Acharya’s soul rests in peace,” he said.

Files papers
Prior to the rally, BJP candidate for Udupi-Chikmagalur Lok Sabha bypoll Sunil Kumar filed his nomination papers on Wednesday. He was accompanied by Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda, State BJP President Eshwarappa, Senior BJP leader and MP Ananth Kumar and Shimoga MP B Y Raghavendra.

Speaking on the occasion, party candidate Sunil Kumar said that he is confident of winning with maximum number of votes. “This is party workers poll and I am sure that the party members will ensure victory with high margin,” he said and added: “We will leave no stone unturned in the path of success.”
