The police have also recovered three cars, a motorcycle, three pistols, 12 live cartridges and Rs 70,000 from them.

“In the recent past we had witnessed a number of incidents of carjacking and robbery. To solve these incidents several teams were constituted to develop information, identify criminals and arrest them. In this process, on specific input, we intercepted a suspicious person, who was later identified as Mohit,” Jaiswal said.

On sustained interrogation, Mohit told police that he was part of a gang which was involved in the attack on the Haryana jail van transporting undertrials on the Gurgaon-Jhajjar Road.

Mohit further disclosed that some of his associates were likely to pass through Rohini to go towards Bawana to meet another associate, Sandeep.

On this tip-off, a trap was laid near Rohini Sector 3.

“At about 11.15 am on Tuesday, two cars were seen coming from Outer Ring Road. On being signaled to stop, the drivers of the vehicles tried to take a U-turn, but could not succeed as our teams had already covered all escape routes,” Jaiswal added.

All the occupants were directed to come out for checking, but instead of surrendering they ran out of the vehicles and opened fire on the police party.

“Our teams however overpowered six persons, Sonu, Raju, Sanjay, Satish, Rohtash and Jitender,” Jaiswal said.

During interrogation they revealed that they are members of ‘Anil Lila Gang’ and confessed to have been involved in the attack on the jail van.

“It has been revealed that they were involved in five case of carjacking and robbery in Delhi, eight cases of murder and six cases of robbery in Haryana. Haryana Police has been informed about their arrest,” Jaiswal said.
