Woman kills brother over television viewing in AP

A 20-year-old woman killed her teenaged  brother in Kamalapur town of Karimnagar district, around 195 kms from here, following a row over watching television.

Pitta Renuka stabbed her 15-year-old brother Nagaraju and burnt his body to hide the crime. She then hid the half-burnt body under a heap of gunny bags meant for storing grains.

The mishap happened after Nagaraju declined to give in to his sister’s pleas to allow her to watch a regional reality show.

Nagaraju usually slept outside the house and returned only in the morning. Hence the crime went unnoticed until their mother raised an alarm.

The body was recovered following a brief search by the locals.

During interrogation by the police, Renuka confessed to the crime. “My brother harassed me every day by not allowing me to watch Telugu serials, particularly the reality shows and dance competitions,” she told the police.
