CM, Home Minister, state BJP president all seek votes

Top leaders of the BJP descended on Udupi, on Thursday to campaign for party candidate Sunil Kumar.

Speaking to the media persons Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda said that great injustice has been meted out at the state in the railway budget. The Centre has failed to keep up promises made to the people.  Railway budget has made people to realize that UPA is against Karnataka.

Demands for Yashwantpur-Mangalore-Karwar night train and railway station of international level in Mangalore have been ignored. “We need representatives to raise all these issues effectively in the Parliament. Our candidate is capable of fighting against this injustice”, he said adding that unlike the Congress, which is solely dependent on its leaders, the BJP is dependent on partyworkers. The CM hinted at the possibilities of former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa campaigning for BJP candidate.

BJP Chief

BJP State President Eshwarappa said that the booth-level workers of the party have finished three rounds of door- to-door campaign in the constituency. People are supporting the BJP like never before. Almost all BJP leaders have camped in the constituency and are campaigning for the candidate, he said and added that Yeddyurappa is expected to campaign for the candidate soon.

Local issues

Home Minister R Ashok said Udupi-Chikmagalur Lok Sabha by poll is absolutely concentrated on the local issues and will have no impact of the political scenario of the country and also the state. He said that the BJP has bright chances of winning as the people in this area are pleased with people-friendly measures taken up by the state government.

He said “layman is not interested in the controversial issues. Rather he is looking at the party which can provide him basic infrastructure facilities and safe livelihood. The programmes of state government have reached every house. BJP is a cadre based party with strong network at local bodies. Congress lacks members at grassroots level. It has many big leaders. However when it comes to the lower levels, there is no one to work for people in Congress”, he said and added that the BJP will take up intensive campaigning over the last few days because these days are very crucial.

Power scarcity

Energy Minister said there will be no compromise when it comes to pollution of the environment.

“Strict directions have been issued to Udupi Power Corporation Limited to rectify the problems concerning flying ash, salinisation es and pipelines within two months,” he said.Pollution Control Board has issued notice to the Company.
