New hostel for women planned

The budget entails a provision for a new women’s hostel for undergraduate students of Yuvaraja College. A women’s hostel for students of postgraduate satellite centre at Chamarajanagar. 

Centre for proficiency development and placement services and school of foreign languages are also planned for 2012-13.

PG diploma

Approval has been given for a new one year postgraduate diploma in food quality and safety. The PG diploma is intended to develop practical training on food safety and quality. It would be held for two semesters with duration of four months each.

Endowments including Indira Vaidyanathan endowment, V S Madhusudhan gold medal and Shruthakevali Bhadrabahu Memorial Cash prize were also accepted.

Hon doctorate

Honorary doctorates to Isro scientist S K Shivakumar, former minister G Madegowda, M Govindarao, actor Jayanthi, Pavagada Prakash Rao and P V Krishnabhat would be presented at the 92nd convocation scheduled to be held on April 7
