Congress realising Ambedkar's dreams, says Parameshwar

Leaders should forget the differences between themselves and work
Last Updated 30 April 2012, 18:31 IST

President of Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee Dr G Parameshwar said his party was realising one of the significant dreams of Ambedkar by implementing Right to Education act at the central level.

He was speaking after receiving the honour bestowed upon him by Dr G Parameshwar Youth Sangha on the occasion of celebrating the 121st birth anniversary of Dr B R Ambedkar at Hirisave.

“It is rather unfortunate that certain communities are yet to progress when the country is on the path to progress. Caste system can be eradicated only when every person is educated,” he said. Krishna Byregowda, former president of Youth Congress State Unit who also spoke on the occasion, said religious heads should stop working for the benefit of ‘one’ community.

Social equality should be the dream for which we all work, to bring about the balance between exploited and those who have benefited since centuries. The event was inaugurated by Congress District Unit President B Shivaram. KPCC member C V Rajappa, ZP member H S Vijaykumar, block Congress committee member Gopalaswamy, Chandregowda, KPCC member Kabbali Rangegowda, district women’s Congress president Lalitamma, Hirisave GP president H S Sridhar and others were present.

‘No truck next polls’

Taking a strong dig at the ruling BJP in the state, which is mired in way too many controversies at both state and central level, former president of state Youth Congress Krishna Byregowda said the party with a ‘difference’ has sure come a long way in establishing its identity. With series of corruption and misconduct charges levelled against its ministers and men who led the party in the past, the BJP now stands for ‘Bail Jail Paksha’.

“Its leaders are either busy going to jail or applying for bail in some court or the other,” he mocked.

“Those leaders who often criticise Sonia Gandhi over her drought study tour, have seldom visited drought-stricken places and heard the people out.

They don’t even have proper accounting for the amount of help they have received from the Centre. Yet, they are always asking for more help,” he said. Pradesh Congress president G Parameshwar, who spoke on the occasion, said Congress will not have truck with any party in the elections.

Tickets will be given to those persons who are suggested by district presidents.

“Leaders should forget the differences between themselves and work for the benefit of the party,” he said.
