Facilitate plying of buses

We, the residents of Vidhana Soudha Layout, Lakshmidevinagar, request the Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board and the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (Dasarahalli Zone) to repair the road from Sonal Garments to IR Polytechniques.

Due to the bad condition of the road, BMTC bus services to Vidhana Soudha Layout, Lakshmidevingar has been terminated near Sonal Garments. From this point, residents are forced to walk almost two kilometres to reach the above mentioned areas. Complaints to local BWSSB, BBMP officers and the local elected representatives have not yielded any result.

We request the authorities concerned to look into this.

No water supply for several months

I am a resident of Ex-servicemens’ Colony on 5th Main, Banaswadi. We have not received water supply for the last several months.

We are forced to purchase water at exorbitant rates in order to meet daily requirements and have to keep waiting up to two days for the tanker to deliver water.

In spite of several requests, nothing has materialised so far. Will the officials please look into matter on urgency basis.

Ex-servicemen’s Colony,

Need Volvo buses

There are no direct Volvo / Vajra buses from Konanakunte Cross / Bank Colony to ITPL, in spite of several software engineers commuting everyday from this area to ITPL.

The travelling public have to go to Banashankari TTMC or ISRO Layout bus stand to catch Vajra buses to ITPL, which is a time-consuming exercise.
We request the authorities concerned to introduce the buses immediately.

Illegal barricade causing traffic hurdles

The construction of an illegal barricade by some residents and members of Spandana Nagarika Vedike (from 34th and 35th Main Road in BTM 2nd stage), has created a lot of problems for the residents.

When the president of the Vedike was requested to remove the barricade, he did not bother to do so. The barricade is posing a number of traffic problems. Road users are forced to spend a lot of time to cover the stretch.

With the Tank Bund Road being converted into a one-way lane, BTM Layout is gradually becoming a one-way layout, making it miserable for the road users.

The traffic police must work out a solution, so that the inconvenience is put an end to.

Uncleared garbage in Ulsoor

Work on widening the road connecting Jogupalya main road to Cambridge Road in
Ulsoor (ward number 89) was taken up six months ago.

Though it was promised that work will be completed in a few months’ time, it is still lingering on. There is also garbage dumped here and there in the area, posing health risks.

Further, commercial vehicles are parked on the narrow road blocking vehicular traffic.
The road is also full of craters and potholes.

The officials concerned must take necessary action to set right things right.

M S Chandrasekharan,
Ulsoor

Road encroached

Almost half of DeveGowda Road in R T Nagar has been encroached by a garage. The BBMP must ensure that the road is cleared for the free movement of vehicles.

The case is similar from the Dinnur Road end to ultanpalya. The footpaths are occupied by vendors and shopowners, causing inconvenience to pedestrians. The proposal to widen the road is going nowhere.

Stoppage of Rajdhani Express at Yeshwantpur

We welcome the South Western Railway’s move to open Baiyappanhalli Terminal on Bangalore-Chennai/Salem/Yelahanka route.

The best possible solution to decongest commuter inflow and reduce traffic congestion at already saturated terminals like Bangalore City Junction, Bangalore Cantonment and Yeshwantpur Junction, is by opening external terminals and providing alighting/boarding halts at more terminals.

Approaching the Bangalore City Railway Station is really tough due to the traffic in and around Majestic area. There is a real need to decongest traffic and reduce commuter inflow to the station. One solution is providing halts for trains at some of the prominent stations like Yeshwantpur, Malleswaram, Kengeri, Baiyappanhalli, Hebbal, Banaswadi to name a few.

The Rajdhani Express (12429/12430 and 12493/ 12494) running between Bangalore and H Nizamuddin (New Delhi) do not have halts at Yeshwantpur Junction. It should be noted that three other New Delhi-bound trains ––  Karnataka Samparkranti Express and the newly introduced Duronto Express –– orginate / terminate at the Yeshwantpur Junction.

By providing halts for at least two to five minutes at Yeshwantpur, the congestion at City Railway station can be reduced. Hence, we request the South Western Railway authorities to look into this suggestion and implement the decision to provide a brief alighting / boarding halt at Yeshwantpur for Bangalore Rajdhani Express.

Park neglected

Hundreds of flowering plants in the park at Telecom Layout, Subramanyapura Road, in front of Deccan International School are withering due to lack of water and apathy of the concerned department.

The only source of water supply is a borewell which is not functioning. The BBMP authorities must do something to revive this park.

Footpath encroached

A makeshift temple has sprung up on the footpath adjoining Hopcoms stall on 7th Cross, I Main Road in Vasanthanagar disturbing the peace in the area.
Playing of high-pitched music and beating of drums have become a regular feature at the temple.

The temple authorities are also trying to encroach upon the adjoining BBMP park. The authorities must see to it that the temple is cleared from the footpath.

Further, the adjoining BBMP park may be better utilised by housing the Ward Office, Bangalore One Centre.

BMTC services

There are no Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) Volvo services from ITPL to Silk Board/Banashankari, between 7:15 pm and 8:15 pm. There are a number of commuters waiting for the 500c/500k buses during this period, but there is not a bus in sight.

The BMTC must introduce more buses during this period on the route.

Bhaskar, a resident

Buses plying from Kanakapura Road to K R Market do not stop at Makkala Koota (Fort High School).

This is causing a lot of inconvenience to people going towards Chamarajpet. The BMTC authorities must provide a stop for these buses at Makkala Koota.

Forgotten road work

The 9th street in Ulsoor has been dug up and pipes have been dumped there for the past two years. Repeated requests to the authorities have proved futile.  They should do something at least now to solve the problem.

Road problems galore

Vidyaranyapura has infrastructure problems one too many. Less said the better about the roads in the area. It has been more than a year now since the roads were dug to lay water pipes. But there is no progress in the work. Most roads have been dug for some work or the other, creating hurdles for smooth movement of vehicles.

The dust rising from the roads is causing health problems for the people. The authorities must act at the earliest to set things right.

Karthik Kadam,
Vidyaranyapura

Traffic bottleneck

The Metro rail work and the work on a flyover, connecting to the intermediate ring road, are causing severe problems for the smooth movement of traffic at Nayandahalli junction. It takes at least 15 minutes to cross this junction for vehicles coming from any of the four roads.

The authorities must expedite the flyover work and open the road for traffic, from ring road junction to Banashankari. With monsoon fast approaching, priority should be to complete the work as early as possible and remove the bottleneck on Mysore Road.
