A motorcyclist died after falling from a flyover at Geeta Colony in east Delhi during the wee hours of Monday, police said.

Ambedkar Vihar’s Manoj Kumar was going from Karawal Nagar to Badarpur when the accident took place.

Under alcohol influence

He was allegedly riding his motorcycle at a high speed and under the influence of alcohol.

“An initial investigation has revealed that he fell from a height of around 50 feet after his motorcycle rammed into the railing of Taj Enclave Flyover,” a police official said.
A passerby informed police after he saw Manoj lying in a pool of blood.

“He was taken to Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital in Dilshad Garden, where doctors declared him brought dead,” the official added.

Prima facie it appears that Manoj was taking a sharp turn on the flyover while heading towards Raj Ghat, police said.

Due to the high speed, he probably lost control and rammed his motorcycle into the flyover’s railing.

Manoj, who worked with a private company in Badarpur, is survived by his wife and two children.
