Rally demanding water staged

The members of the Undivided Kolar District Permanent Irrigation Agitation Committee took out an awareness rally on Wednesday demanding the implementation of the permanent irrigation schemes  Paramashivaiah report in the drought-hit areas of the district.

The rally began in the Ambedkar Bhavan reached the Old Bus Stand premises through Muddenahalli and surrounding villages.

The awareness was taken out through singing patriotic songs and shouting out slogans.

The leader of the DYFI Association Srinivasa Reddy said, “ The underwater level has depleted due to drought and this may lead to severe water crisis which why appropriate steps should be taken to implement irrigation schemes in the district.”

CITU representative B N Munikrishnappa slammed Union Minister Veerappa Moily and alleged that he has misled the people and has prioritised the Ettinahole Project instead of implementation of the Parama-ishivaiah report.

The rally began a month ago and will conclude on June 22. The volunteers of the rally created awareness in villages  with the assistance of the representatives of the gram panchayats.
