Union Minister Vayalar Ravi said he was not surprised with Siddaramaiah’s resignation to the post of the Leader of Opposition in the State Legislative Assembly.

He told mediapersons at the airport here on Friday that Siddaramaiah was not originally a Congressman, as he came from outside. It was evident from his decision that he did not make attempts to understand the party system.

He said: “The selection of the party’s candidates in the elections was not a subject to be decided on the streets. The party followed a system and all the members are supposed to respect the decision taken by the party.”

“I am not going to convince Siddaramaiah to revoke his decision. Nor have I received any information in this regard from the AICC,” Ravi added.

US money for Team Anna

Ravi alleged that the members of Team Anna were making baseless allegations against the prime minister. These were nothing but efforts to destabilise the political system in the country, since the team members were receiving funds from the US.

Expressing his ire over the allegations made by Anna team members Kiran Bedi and Aravind Kejriwal, he said that they were not even aware of the kind of allegations they were making and against whom they were making, he added.
