The death toll in the City crosses half century mark

While three of the victims were from Bangalore, one victim - a 26-year-old woman was from Belgaum. With this, the death toll in the City has crossed the 50-mark. The number of the Influenza related deaths in the State has now gone up to 70.

A 17-year-old boy was admitted to a Government hospital on September 8, but passed away on September 9. Similarly, a 27-year-old woman, who was also admitted to a Government hospital on September 11, succumbed to the flu on the same day, while a 24-year-old woman died at a private hospital on September 13 after being in the hospital for 19 days.

Curiously, the test results of the two children who died at Vanivilas Hospital were tested positive for H1N1 on Monday. But this was not reflected in the official update to the media from the Health department. A year old boy and a four-year-old boy expired due to the viral flu at the hospital on Saturday. As the hospital did not have facility to collect the swabs, their swabs were collected at Victoria Hospital on Friday.

Meanwhile, 19 fresh positive cases were reported in the State, taking the total number of positive cases to 793. While 16 were from Bangalore, two were from the District Hospital Chikkaballapur and one from Bagalkot.
