District Congress convenor A N Mahesh alleged that the JD(S) and the BJP have entered into an secret alliance to defeat the Congress candidates in the Council election.

Addressing a press meet, he said the JD(S) has fielded its candidate to help the BJP. However, there is direct fight between the BJP and the Congress. The JD(S) is strong in few taluks. The results of bypoll will be repeated in the Council election.

Flaying Council Chairperson and MLC D H Shankarmurthy, he said though
Shankarmurthy had represented the South West Constituency four times in the past he only decorated the seat, but never discussed the problems of the graduates. He has drastically failed to bring in additional fund to the district from the MLC fund, said Mahesh.

“Shankarmurthy and Captain Ganesh Karnik will face wrath of the voters for not solving their problem. There are all chances that the graduates and teachers would not support them in the election,” he said.

He informed that the Congress is carrying out the election campaign for its candidates Dinesh and Ramesh Joyappa in 27 taluks. The party has considered the MLC election on a serious note and it has prepared a good election manifesto to be implemented if the party emerges victorious.

Responding to MLA C T Ravi’s criticism towards Rahul Gandhi, he said that Ravi has no moral right to criticise Rahul Gandhi as the BJP MLAs behaviour is well assessed in Renukacharya’s case.
