Congress plaint against govt officials

Bangalore City District Congress Committee on Friday lodged a complaint with the State Chief Election Commissioner against certain officials from the Department of Public Instruction for violation of code of conduct pertaining to Legislative Council polls.

The Committee members have alleged that the department officials, including a deputy director, had a meeting in RT Nagar Public School in B’lore North Zone and tried to pursue voters to vote for BJP candidate Ramachandra Gowda, by distributing money.

Several block education officers have been involved in similar acts in Bangalore South, Bangalore Rural and Ramanagar zones. It is a clear violation of election code of conduct, said S T Somashekar, President, Bangalore City District Congress Committee.

Later, speaking to mediapersons, President of Bangalore Urban District Congress Committee Dinesh Gundurao said officials of the Department of Public Instruction have been acting as puppets in the hands of  BJP candidate Ramachandra Gowda. In some cases, voters were being threatened of transfer to far away places, if they refused to abide by the demands of the ruling party candidate, he added.
