Suitable action will be taken against MLAs who cross-voted in the recent elections to the Legislative Council, after discussing the matter with the BJP central leaders, said State BJP president K S Eshwarappa.

Speaking to mediapersons here on Thursday, he said some BJP legislators too have cross-voted during the MLC elections like Congress legislators. “We are aware of these developments. The party will take a suitable step only after consulting the central leaders.”

Reacting to KPCC president G Parameshwara’s statement that dalits may launch a movement for political power in the State, he said Parameshwara should apologise to people for making such a statement which could disrupt communal harmony.

List of whip violators

Excise Minister M P Renukacharya on Thursday claimed that he has a list of BJP MLAs who cross-voted in the recently held Legislative Council elections and demanded that the party take stringent action against them.

Speaking to reporters in Bangalore, he said of the 12 MLAs who cross-voted, some are Cabinet ministers. “I know their names. These MLAs had recently been to New Delhi to meet the party high command and had projected themselves as loyal to the party,” he said.

He, however, refused to reveal their names, saying that he would give it to the chief minister and the State party chief.
