JOIN USNitin Mulki’s all-round effort helped Vijaya Cricket Club, Malur to a thrilling six-run win over City Cricketers (1) in the Dell-KSCA Group I, Division III cricket tournament for the Nassur Memorial Shield here.
Vijaya CC, riding on cameos from Nitin Mulki (48) and Atif (44), managed to reach 214 all out in 53.5 overs even as City Cricketers’ J Lenin (4/64) and Abdul Lateef Patel (3/39) ate through much of their batting line-up.
Chasing a modest total, City Cricketers looked well set to scale the target as Hanumantharaju (84) and Narendra Bhandary (39) put them in good stead. Mulki (5/47) and Sandeep Hebbar (4/70), however, cut short City Cricketers’ innings by scalping nine wickets between them to bowl them out for 208 runs in 46.5 overs. Vijaya CC claimed five points for the win while City Cricketers went home empty handed.
Naseeruddin grabbed five wickets to star in Friends XI CC, Doddaballapura’s crushing eight-wicket win over Cavaliers Cricket Club in the other match. After bowling out Cavaliers for 168, Friends scaled the target down in 35.1 overs.
